January 2017 Together We Can Change The World Volun-Tour
Myanmar, formerly known as Burma, only began accepting independent tourists in 2012. Progress has been rapid since then, but the country still has lots of untouched regions which is where we’ll spend a lot of our time. You will get to see parts of the country that very few outsiders get to see. If you’d like to see — and make a difference with — the real people in a country, you’ll love this trip. We will also visit two of the largest cities, Yangon and Mandalay, as well as a special trip to Bagan to explore the many pagodas. You may want to explore these via a sunrise hot air balloon ride, or hike to the top of a few.
Our project visits focus on well-run projects helping impoverished people improve their economic status. We’ll visit monk-run schools, social businesses, and other projects where our financial support can make a huge difference.
At night, we’ll stay in clean, nice hotels and guest houses. The one in Hpa-An is a lovely setting on the river bank. The others are being confirmed.
- We are working to get trades with the hotels. In case we don’t, budget about $50/night.
- We are working to have a public seminar featuring our trip participants in Yangon, as well as in Mandalay. All proceeds go to TWCCTW.
